20 Essex Street is delighted to announce the appointment of James Huckle as Director of Strategic Development. This is a newly created role, which will focus on growing members’ domestic and international practices, and continuing to position Chambers as pre-eminent in the field of commercial litigation and international arbitration. James is presently the Commercial Director at Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) and will join Chambers on 5 January 2015. James will work closely with Chambers’ co-head Duncan Matthews QC, as well as with the Chambers Management Board.
James Huckle said of his new appointment:
“The English Bar is entering a fascinating, yet challenging period and as such, I'm excited by the international focus of 20 Essex Street, plus its very strong position and reputation in commercial litigation and arbitration. My hire demonstrates that members are committed to building an even stronger business for the set in the future and it is for that reason, coupled with 20 Essex Street's undoubted capabilities and already fantastic reputation, that I'm extremely excited by this role.”
Co-Heads of Chambers, Christopher Hancock QC and Duncan Matthews QC, said:
“We are very pleased that James has agreed to join Chambers in what will be a key role in the future development of our set. He has a proven track record in building business success, both at HFW and in earlier appointments. His recruitment reflects our commitment to ensuring 20 Essex Street is appropriately resourced to meet the requirements of a fast-changing and increasingly sophisticated global legal market. Members and clerking staff very much look forward to working with James to shape our future progress”.
