EU Justice Sub-Committee follow-up inquiry into civil justice cooperation post Brexit – Alexander Layton QC acts as expert witness

In March 2017 the EU Justice Sub-Committee published its report ‘Brexit: justice for families, individuals and businesses?’ looking at what alternative plans the Government has to replace the loss of EU Regulations which govern cooperation in civil and family law in the UK post-Brexit.

On 15 May 2018 the Sub-Committee will launch a short follow-up enquiry to explore progress made so far during the Brexit negotiations, the contents of the Withdrawal Agreement which include provisions addressing civil justice cooperation during the transition period, and the Government’s response to the inquiry. Alexander Layton QC will be acting as an expert witness represnting the Bar Council.

Further details on the topics likely to be discussed and the other expert witnesses can be found on UK Parliament website.

A video of Alexander giving his evidence can be viewed on Parliament TV.
