The UK Jurisdiction Taskforce (UKJT) of Lawtech UK has published the draft Digital Dispute Resolution Rules.
The rules follow last year’s Legal Statement on Cryptoassets and Smart Contracts and intend to facilitate “the rapid, informal and cost-effective resolution of disputes arising out of novel technologies, including digital assets, smart contracts, blockchain and fintech.”
David Quest QC (3 Verulam Buildings) and Lawrence Akka QC lead the drafting committee. Other committee members include Dorothy Livingston (Hebert Smith Freehills), Anne Rose (Mischcon de Reya), David McIlwaine (Pinsent Masons), Richard Hay and Rory Conway (Linklaters).
On Friday 26 February, the UKJT will host a public consultation where members of the public will hear from the drafting team and have the opportunity to pose questions.
