We are delighted to announce that Thomas Raphael has been appointed Queen's Counsel.
Thomas' practice spans a wide range of 20 Essex Street's core areas of expertise, with a particular focus on banking and financial services, shipping and commodities, offshore energy, insurance and reinsurance. He also has a growing practice in cross-over cases involving intellectual property, competition law, and commercial law.
As a junior he was recommended by the main legal directories for banking and finance, commercial dispute resolution, and shipping. His recent cases include Cukurova Finance International Ltd v Alfa Telecom Turkey Ltd [2013] UKPC 25 and The RBS Rights Issue Litigation (Greenwood v Goodwin and others).
The official swearing-in ceremony will take place on 16 February 2015.
